Amazon has been forced to withdraw "disturbing" Christmas ornaments bearing images of Auschwitz.
The Auschwitz Museum condemned the online shopping giant for selling death camp-themed decorations and novelty bottle openers.
Officials from the museum, which preserves the site of the former Nazi Auschwitz concentration and extermination camp, said the products were "disrespectful" and called on the online retail giant to remove them from sale.
On Sunday afternoon Amazon confirmed it had removed the Auschwitz-themed products from sale.
The retailer had received multiple complaints about the items, including negative reviews on its site and more than 2,000 messages on Twitter.
Items include star and bell-shaped Christmas tree baubles featuring photographs of the death camp.
Selling "Christmas ornaments" with images of Auschwitz does not seem appropriate. Auschwitz on a bottle opener is rather disturbing and disrespectful. We ask @amazon to remove the items of those suppliers. https://t.co/0uG2JG558e pic.twitter.com/ucZoTWPk1W

There is also a magnetic bottle opener featuring a scene from the camp described as "the former Jewish district in Krakow".
In a tweet, the official Auschwitz Museum account said: "Selling ‘Christmas ornaments’ with images of Auschwitz does not seem appropriate.
"Auschwitz on a bottle opener is rather disturbing and disrespectful."
The ornaments were on sale through Amazon.com for £10.05.
At 8pm on Sunday, after Amazon said it had removed the ornaments, the museum tweeted once again to flag that more "disturbing" items were still available from the website.
They included a mousepad titled "Massacre Auschwitcz Birkenau Jewish Death" with the name of the concentration camp spelled incorrectly and a Christmas tree decoration featuring with a freight car "used for deporting Jews for extermination", the museum said.
Sadly, it is not over yet @amazon. The "Massacre Auschwitcz (!) Birkenau Jewish Death" mousepad is another disturbing online product. We are not sure if @yadvashem would like the "Christmas ornament" with a freight car used for deporting Jews for extermination either. https://t.co/qDEEzqzwSU pic.twitter.com/wXExhFZPmV
