NDSU is tied for 41st in the team standings with 3 points. Ohio State leads with 36 points. Session III starts at 10 a.m. CT Friday. The 11th-seeded Ream (24-5) starts with 12th-seeded Mike Finesilver (19-6) of Duke, while Fogarty battles Cornell 16th-seeded Jonathon Chavez (20-6) on Friday morning.
Both Ream and Fogarty lost opening round matches, but rebounded with wins in the second session. Ream (24-5) jumped out to an 8-3 lead after the first over Cal State Bakersfield’s Coleman Hammond, but Hammond kept the top position for the entire second. Ream responded with a pair of takedowns to secure the win. Stanford’s Paul Fox defeated Ream 4-2 in the first round for the second straight season.
Fogarty (30-11) came out strong and built a 4-1 lead and 1:33 of riding time in the first period over Duke’s Zach Finesilver. However, Finesilver kept the top position for the second to erase riding time. Fogarty returned the favor in the third and gained the point for riding time. Fogarty defeated Finesilver 5-1
