Sir Kim Darroch, the embattled British ambassador to Washington, intends to continue with his duties, even though he is persona non grata at the White House, the Telegraph understands.
One source familiar with the matter said that Sir Kim was determined to continue with "business as usual" amid the storm.
“There is a large embassy to run and he is getting on with business," the source said.
It had been Sir Kim’s choice not to attend a meeting between Ivanka Trump and Liam Fox, the international development secretary, on Tuesday at the White House, they added.
Diplomatic cables – known as "diptels" – sent by Sir Kim back to London – were leaked to a Sunday newspaper last weekend.
